Here
are some of my photos of the streets of Dublin, Ireland from
our visit in June, 2006.
These
photos are from a bus tour of Ireland
that began and ended at Shannon Airport, with hotel stops in
Limerick, Galway, Derry, Belfast, Dublin, Waterford,
Killarney, and back to Limerick. These pictures represent
only a small slice of that trip, the streets of Dublin.

Dublin
is an ancient city
and because of its harbor and access to the river Liffey,
was highly prized by the Vikings. The Vikings, the Celts and
the Normans would not recognize this busy city. The streets
are filled with shops, pubs, street entertainers, majestic
cathedrals, museums, mementos of violent
confrontations with strangers from Britain and Europe, but
in spite of the troubles, the people of Ireland are among
the friendliest, most genuine people in the world. To
walk down any street in Ireland, especially Dublin and you
are met with smile after smile, friendly and sincere hellos,
and if you look like you are lost, you will probably find a
friendly voice welcoming you and offering directions. You
may not always get the directions that you need but you will
enjoy the conversation anyway.

There are
thousands of photos that have been taken of Dublin and this
is only a sample of the few that we took this summer. These
represent only some of the fascinating sites and people that
you will chance to meet when you visit this lovely green
land.
