Driving the Great Smoky Mountains
The Great
Smoky Mountains National Park is a great Tennessee travel
destination. Most will reach the park in eastern Tennessee by
Interstate 40 exit 407. Then drive south about 20 miles to reach
the entrance of the park. These 20 miles
of road become more and more littered with touristy places like
hotels, souvenir shops and cheesy mini amusement parks. Iām sure
a lot of people take advantage of these places and have a lot of
fun but I have a hard time stomaching it. The good news is
that after being punished by the seemingly endless tourist
clutter you are rewarded with one of the most beautiful National
Parks in the United States.
Beautiful Mountain Scenery
Travelers will
be delighted by the nature beauty and unspoiled scenery the park
has to offer. There are countless opportunities to pull of the
road to park and admire the views. Several hiking
trails can be used to get deeper in the woods and take lots of
great photos. A Visitors
center is available to help you learn more about what the park
has to offer. People come from all over the country and the
world to visit. I have taken some photograph to help you see
some of the pretty sights. The park is fee
free which is a plus and nearby Gatlinburg is a very popular
town to go to when in the area. This park is near where I live
and is always rewarding to visit.
